Re: Teacher directions for the STUDENT Needs Assessment
Instructional Strategies Survey for STUDENTS
The planning has begun for the 2017-18 Elementary Math Study! I know this is a very busy time of year for you all, but need you to find time before you leave for the summer to have your students complete this survey. Please note: We are asking all 2nd-5th grade students complete this survey. K-1 teachers, we ask that you look over these directions and survey and make a decision whether or not you wish to have your students fill the survey out. This Instructional Strategies survey is on Excel Survey. It is that same survey you took as a teacher, but rewritten in student friendly language.
This survey to be completed by each student, INDIVIDUALLY. I anticipate in not taking more than a couple minutes to complete this survey. The FIRST question on the survey asks the students to Choose the LETTER your teacher assigned you… We wanted to know the academic needs of the student filling out the survey. I ask that you assign students the following letters: A—Entitled in MATH B—Work with the G/T Facilitator C—Neither of the above After this question, we feel confident the students should be able to click through the survey independently. Again, I know this is a busy time, with the school year coming to a quick end. Our committee feels we will get our most accurate data from our students at this time, rather than waiting for them to come off a long summer break.

The planning has begun for the 2017-18 Elementary Math Study! I know this is a very busy time of year for you all, but need you to find time before you leave for the summer to complete two surveys. Please note: There is nothing evaluative about these surveys, we would like you to be as honest as possible as we begin to move forward and make plans in the area of mathematics. The survey is done in Excel Survey.
